CO ₂ emissions for commercial aviation

This article from the International Council on Clean Transportation publishes a 3-year, transparent, geographically-allocated global carbon emissions inventory (GACA), using operations data from OAG Aviation Worldwide Limited, ICAO, individual airlines, and the emissions of Piano aircraft modeling software. For the first time, the GACA assessment includes CO ₂ emissions from global premium class passenger and cargo operations with totals reported by the industry. Commercial traffic has increased almost four times faster than fuel efficiency improvements, and CO2 _emissions from passenger flights increased 33% between 2013 and 2019. CO2 _emissions from all business operations totaled 918 million metric tons in 2019, an increase of 29% from 2013.
