The EU Commission has published the 2020 State of the Energy Union report with accompanying documents focusing on different aspects of EU energy policy. The report examines the five different dimensions of the Energy Union: decarbonisation, including renewable energies; energy efficiency; energy security; the internal energy market; and research, innovation and competitiveness. It is the first since the adoption of the European Green Deal. The report analyzes the individual assessments of the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs), provides guidance for the rapid implementation of these NECPs, and how energy-related investments and reforms can boost the EU’s economic recovery.
