Wopke Hoekstra calls for “accelerating” emissions cuts and “meeting commitments”

The Dutchman said that “the planet is not going to wait for us”

The European Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra, has advocated “accelerating” the cut in emissions and “fulfilling commitments” to abandon fossil fuels, after the European Union’s Climate Advisory Council today called in a report for “more efforts in all sectors”.
“Emissions reductions around the world need to be accelerated. The planet is not going to wait for us,” Hoekstra said in a statement sent to EFE in reaction to the analysis of that independent body in charge of evaluating EU policies, which calls in particular for more progress in construction, transport, agriculture and forestry.
