Phasing out fossil fuel subsidies, key to achieving zero emissions in Europe by 2050

Based on an assessment of more than 80 indicators, the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change concluded that more efforts are needed across all sectors to achieve the EU’s 2030-2050 climate targets

In a new report, the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change (ESABCC) recommends a series of actions to put the EU on the path to climate neutrality. Some recommendations require immediate action and others need to be taken into account when shaping the EU’s post-2030 climate policy framework. The EU Climate Advisory Council today published its report: “Towards EU Climate Neutrality: Progress, Policy Gaps and Opportunities”. Based on an assessment of more than 80 indicators, it concluded that more efforts are needed in all sectors to achieve the EU’s 2030 to 2050 climate targets, and particularly in construction, transport, agriculture and forestry.
