Water battery in the Alps, a giant leap to energy storage in Europe

A Swiss company built a gigantic water battery deep in the Alps that provides an energy storage capacity equivalent to 400,000 electric car batteries.

A 2 billion Swiss franc (€2.05 billion) project could help stabilise Europe’s increasingly expensive electricity as it transitions to renewables.
