Europe proposes to certify the elimination of COâ‚‚ emissions

To ensure the transparency and credibility of the certification process, the proposal establishes rules for independent verification, as well as rules for recognising certification schemes.

The European Commission has adopted a proposal for a first voluntary framework at EU level to reliably certify _{high-quality COâ‚‚} removals. The proposal will boost innovative CO_â‚‚ removal technologies and sustainable carbon dioxide capture solutions in agricultural soils, and contribute to the EU’s climate, environment and zero pollution objectives.
