Norway approves extraction of critical minerals from the seabed

Nature advocates were dealt a major blow this week when the Norwegian parliament authorized exploration of the Arctic seabed to extract critical minerals, in a bid to wean itself off its dependence on oil and gas.

The decision could make Norway the first country in the world to commercialize deep-sea mining for the extraction of critical minerals as the electrification of the planet gets underway.
