Banks Ask Investors to Look Beyond a Dreaded ESG Metric

European banks are asking investors not to pay too much attention to a new green metric due to be released in the coming weeks

This decision by the banks is justified by the fact that the first estimates show that the industry is unfortunately behind where it should be.
The Green Asset Ratio, launched by the European Banking Authority in 2021 with a 2024 deadline, measures the percentage of assets that align with the bloc’s list of sustainable business activities. The EBA initially estimated in 2021 that the figure was around 7.9 percent on average.
