Net Zero in 2050. Roadmap for the global energy sector

The IEA sets out in this report a path to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and highlights the priority actions needed. The pathway outlined in this report achieves this goal without offsets from outside the energy sector and with little reliance on negative emission technologies. It is designed to maximize technical feasibility, profitability and social acceptance, ensuring continued economic growth and secure energy supply. The report offers a global vision, but given the different circumstances of each country, it emphasizes that advanced economies have to reach net zero before emerging markets and developing economies, and help others to achieve it.
