The findings presented by the EEA at this briefing are based on a comprehensive report commissioned by the European Environment Agency (EEA), which looks at the national advisory bodies on climate change in the 32 EEA member countries, plus the UK. Kingdom, in their contexts of national government. The importance of ensuring the effectiveness of the work of these bodies by providing them with a clear mandate and adequate resources and integrating them into the regular cycles of climate policy formulation, planning and monitoring of progress is highlighted. The interim results of this work were presented to the representatives of the national advisory bodies in Europe in November 2020. The dialogue that followed provided new ideas, which were reflected in the final publication.
