2020 nuclear results and future prospects

According to the annual results presented in this report by the Nuclear Industry Forum, as of December 31, 2020, the installed power was 7,117 megawatts; in other words, with 6.44% of the total generation capacity of the entire country, the 7 nuclear power plants in operation in Spain contributed 22.20% of the electricity, 0.79% more than the previous year, which which makes this technology the leading source of electricity in the country as a whole for the tenth consecutive year. The study highlights that nuclear production generated 33.14% of the electricity free of CO ₂ emissions and is positioned as “the source that avoided the most emissions”.
