Meeting in Cornwall this June, G7 leaders committed to strong, integrated global action on nature and climate, with a global mission to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, acting on the Charter. of Metz on Biodiversity (signed by the Environment Ministers of the G7 Member States in May 2019) and the Leaders’ Commitment to Nature (signed by 88 countries and the European Union in September 2020).
In the next decade, work will be carried out on four central pillars: Leading the transition towards the sustainable and legal use of natural resources; invest in nature and drive a nature-positive economy; protection, conservation and restoration of nature, including through ambitious global goals; and prioritize accountability and implementation of commitments to nature.
