Reduce methane leaks from the oil and gas industry

The International Energy Agency (IEA) asks companies, governments and regulators for urgent measures to reduce methane emissions since after the 10% reduction due to the pandemic these emissions can recover, and with more force, if they are not taken measures. This IEA report is a guide for governments and regulators to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas operations. It is based on the analysis of how more than 50 countries, states or provinces have regulated methane emissions. The implementation of a new policy or regulation should involve three distinct phases, outlined in this roadmap: understanding the local environment and circumstances, regulation design and development, and finally, implementation.
