Potential biomethane production in the EU.

The study shows that there are enough sustainable raw materials available in the EU to meet the REPowerEU 2030 target. Biomethane can play an important role in meeting the EU’s GHG reduction target for 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. In addition, biomethane can increase European energy security by reducing dependence on Russian natural gas and can alleviate some of the cost of energy, and pressure on homes and businesses.
