The maintenance, retirement and development of new plants faces challenges related to resource availability, regulations, industry capacities, staffing, access to fuel and waste management. The results of the study suggest that the combination of challenges in these areas limits the planned capacity for nuclear energy so that there is a risk that the contribution of nuclear energy will be lower than expected.
