With temperature data for the first three months of the year now available, Carbon Brief concludes that 2025 is very likely to be one of the three warmest years on record. In addition to near-record heat, the early 2025 saw historically low sea ice coverage in the Arctic between January and March, and the second-lowest minimum sea ice extent on record in Antarctica.
