Europe’s aviation sector report states that net zero CO 2 emissions from all flights within and out of the EU can be achieved by 2050 through concerted and decisive industry and government efforts. The European aviation industry is committed to achieving this goal and contributing to the objectives set out in the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement.
Destination 2050 shows a possible path that combines new technologies, improved operations, sustainable aviation fuels and economic measures. According to this report, absolute emissions would be reduced by 92%, while the remaining 8% would be removed from the atmosphere through negative emissions, achieved through natural carbon sinks or dedicated technologies.
