An investigation led by the British media ‘The Guardian’ shows how more than a dozen experts from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have links with the Saudi state oil company Aramco – the largest carbon emitter in the world – Saudi institutions and other entities in the oil and gas sector. The revelations sow doubts about a possible conflict of interest in the IPCC, responsible for key reports for the development of policies against the climate crisis.
A journalistic investigation, led by the British media ‘The Guardian’, has shaken the climate scientific community. The report – backed by Journalism Fund Europe and also published by ‘L’Humanité’, from France, or ‘ElDiario.es’, from Spain, among other European media – revealed at least 20 cases that raise concerns about possible conflicts of interest between authors of the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the reference body in climate science.
