Global energy-related CO₂ emissions peaked in 2024, according to DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook. This drop comes at a time when solar and batteries are cheaper, contributing to coal phase-out and slowing oil growth. However, DNV warns that the projected decline in emissions is insufficient to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, as it expects global temperatures to rise by 2.2 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.
