European Council and Parliament reach agreement on measures to reduce_CO2 emissions

The Council and the European Parliament reached provisional political agreement on legislative proposals for the ‘Fit for 55’ package to achieve the 55% greenhouse gas emissions reduction target by 2030 compared to 1990. The commitment strengthens the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), applies emissions trading to new sectors and establishes a Social Climate Fund. The agreement reached now contributes to making the system more ambitious to further reduce emissions.
