EU on track to exceed 2030 renewables target

The European Union is on track to surpass its 2030 target for clean energy technologies, as the deployment of solar power and heat pumps soared last year due to Russia’s war in Ukraine and the energy crisis it triggered, according to a new report.

Brussels set a target of 40% in renewable energy by 2030 in the Fit for 55 package it presented in the summer of 2021, but the Twenty-seven are expected to reach 45%, according to a report published on Tuesday by Ember.
