The EC bans the sale of PVC articles containing lead, although they can be recycled

Articles containing recycled rigid PVC may be placed on the market for a period of time, but must be completely covered by a lead-free layer.

The European Commission has taken measures to protect people and the environment from the toxic effects of lead by banning the use and marketing of lead in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) articles, including imports. Lead compounds are used in PVC mainly in the construction industry, for example, in window profiles, pipes and pipes, as well as in wires and cables.
