Renewable power generation curbed CO₂ emissions in 2023

Global energy-related carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions increased less in 2023 compared to the previous year, despite accelerated growth in total energy demand. This is according to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) new analysis, ‘CO₂ Emissions in 2023’, which shows how the continued expansion of technologies such as solar, wind and electric vehicles contributed to limiting the use of fossil fuels worldwide.
