New rules to reduce industrial emissions in the EU and promote decarbonisation

The European Council adopted the revised Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and the regulation on the establishment of an Industrial Emissions Portal (IEP) to regulate and monitor the environmental consequences of industrial activities. The new rules include an expansion of the scope to reduce industrial emissions, less bureaucracy with e-permitting, effective penalties, and public information and participation. In addition, these standards will protect the environment while promoting energy efficiency, the circular economy and decarbonization.
