MónNatura Pirineus hosts the closing meeting of the Bio For Piri project

On 11 and 12 December, the partner entities of the Bio For Piri project held the last face-to-face meeting of the project at MónNatura Pirineus, located in Pallars Sobirà. This space of the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, the entity that leads the project in coordination with the Private Business and Climate Foundation and four other entities, was the place chosen to host the closing day.

During these two days, the results of the actions promoted within the framework of the project were shared, from the date of activation, in March 2024, to December 2025. The entities valued the lessons learned and the impact of networking, which has been key to demonstrating that forest management is the best tool to make forests more resilient in the face of the climate crisis. It was also found that forests can generate high value-added resources, such as wooden houses, which contribute to creating job opportunities for young people, favouring their roots in the territory and helping to reverse rural depopulation.

The closing program combined technical workspaces with informative activities. On the first day, the participants enjoyed an astronomical experience with the activity “Journey through the Galaxies” at the MónNatura Pyrenees Observatory, followed by the projection of the final videos of the project and the construction process of the “Forestone Cabin”, a prototype of a wooden house on the Alinyà Mountain and carried out within the framework of Bio For Piri.

The second day was dedicated to the presentation and debate of the actions promoted: from planning and prevention actions to sustainable forest management, silvicultural itineraries, conservation, bioeconomy, silvopastoralism, training and awareness-raising. Aspects of general coordination, technical and economic justification, and communication were also addressed. The day concluded with a reflection session on future opportunities and a visit to the “Forestone Cabin”, located in MónNatura Pirineus.
