EU: Funding text proposed by COP29 presidency is “unacceptable”

The European Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra, described as “unacceptable” the text released on Thursday by the COP29 presidency, in which it summarises some of the proposals put forward on the new climate finance target being negotiated by countries.

Asked by journalists in Baku, after the document was made public, in which the presidency offers a summary of the negotiating positions of the countries on climate finance – the main issue of the UN climate summit hosted by the Azeri capital – Hoekstra said that the text is “clearly unacceptable”.
