Spain supports the revision of the guidelines for the compensation of indirect costs ofCO2 in Europe

The chemical industry expects to close the 2025 financial year with a production growth of 1.2%

The Secretary of State for Industry, Jordi García Brustenga, announced at the closing of the assembly of the Business Federation of the Spanish Chemical Industry (Feique), that the Government of Spain will support in Europe the revision of the guidelines for the compensation of indirect costs of carbon dioxide (CO₂), which will allow new companies in the chemical sector to join. Thus, as indicated by the Ministry of Industry in a statement on Thursday, the European Commission is currently reviewing the state aid guidelines for the compensation of CO₂ emissions, which will allow its coverage to be extended to chemical sectors that are not currently contemplated. This will benefit “practically all sectors of the chemical industry”, as the Secretary of State pointed out in his speech, adding areas such as organic chemistry, fertilisers and nitrogenous components.
