This strategic document will enable Spain to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels
The Vice-President of the Government and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, announced this Thursday, as part of the presentation of the National Inventory of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions into the atmosphere, the launch of the prior public consultation to update the Long-Term Decarbonisation Strategy (ELP 2050). This Strategy, which sets the path to achieving climate neutrality by 2050, was approved by the Council of Ministers in 2020 and will now be updated to incorporate the progress made in recent years in our country, in terms of decarbonisation of the economy. “We have to put the high lights, we cannot think only about the here and now, we have to think about what our vision is in the long term, where we want to go in 2050. Therefore, because anticipating is maximising opportunities, today we are going to hold a prior public consultation on the Long-Term Strategy”, announced Aagesen.
