China must reduce its emissions by 30% by 2035 to meet the Paris goals

The Asian giant, which accounts for more than 25% of global emissions, is being called upon to significantly increase its climate ambition if it is to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. According to recent analysis, China should aim to reduce its emissions by 30% by 2035 from current levels. This more ambitious goal would be crucial for the country to reach its goal of carbon neutrality before 2060 and contribute significantly to the global effort to combat climate change. China, the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide, must cut its CO2 emissions by at least 30% by 2035 in its new climate targets if it wants the world to have a chance of meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement, according to a report published Thursday by the Finnish think tank Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA).
