Brussels launches a platform for the joint purchase of raw materials

The European Commission opened on Monday the first call for buyers and suppliers who want to participate in the new Raw Materials Facility, which will connect companies and carry out joint purchases in order to diversify supplies from the European Union (EU).

“Given that industry in the EU remains highly dependent on a limited number of third-country suppliers, the initiative seeks to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen economic security in the face of growing geopolitical risks, giving visibility to alternative sources,” the EU executive stressed in a statement.
