Progress and resilience in the fight against climate change

More renewable energy and fewer emissions per capita are not enough; The oil-producing countries are slowing down the advance. Which countries are surprising for their success and which for their failure in the climate protection index?

On the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, there is some progress at the global level with respect to climate change. One achievement has been that per capita emissions are declining and renewable energies are growing exponentially. In addition, more than 100 countries have climate targets to reach net zero emissions, according to the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI), which makes comparisons between countries.

However, the report warns that progress is not enough to achieve the Paris goals for 2030. Emissions still need to be cut in half, fossil fuels need to be phased out more quickly, and climate finance needs to increase.
