More than 90 organisations call for a binding EU energy efficiency target for 2040

More than 90 companies, industry associations and civil society organisations, including Solar Heat Europe, have called on the European Commission to include a binding EU energy efficiency target for 2040 in the post-2030 energy framework. The initiative proposes energy efficiency as a tool to reduce exposure to fossil imports, contain costs and strengthen energy security.

The request is contained in a joint letter addressed to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, where the signatories call for regulatory stability and predictability to sustain investments and energy-saving measures before the legislative proposals scheduled for the end of the year.
