50% of electricity will be renewable by 2030 but without achieving COP target, says IEA

The International Energy Agency predicts that renewables will reach 50% of global electricity demand by 2030, although their capacity will not triple the COP28 targets.

The expansion of renewable energies is accelerating and by 2030 they will cover 50% of the world’s electricity demand, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), which believes that by then more efforts are needed to meet the COP28 goal of tripling renewable capacity.
