Spain, Kenya and Samoa join the ‘Alliance Beyond Oil and Coal’ at COP28

According to Ribera, it is time “to orient ourselves towards what we have to do, which is to get rid of fossil fuels”

Spain, Kenya and Samoa announced at COP28 their adherence to the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), which was launched at the Glasgow summit (COP26) in 2021 and of which 24 members are now members.

The alliance also pledged on Tuesday that it will provide a $1 million grant to support Kenya and Colombia in their “just, controlled and orderly” transition away from dependence on oil and gas, meaning it activates the “implementation” of BOGA.
