Global_CO2 emissions from electricity could fall as early as 2023

The gases generated by the sector would have peaked in 2022, according to an international study

An international report has just provided hopeful news about the world’s immediate energy future. Wind and solar reached a record 12% of global electricity in 2022, up from 10% in 2021, according to the latest Global Electricity Review 2023 report by Ember, an independent energy analysis body. In fact, this year could represent “the beginning of the end” of fossil fuels in this sector, given that from now on a downward curve is expected in their global role, according to their report.
