The new Renewables Directive, with its climax that 42.5% of the energy consumed in the European Union is of origin in 2030, has a section that was a fight of pressure and lobbying for months and that seemed to close with a commitment that left France happy and that complicated the Spanish aspirations to become the future European energy power through renewable hydrogen. But the fine print says that France will have to revolutionize its energy policy if it wants to benefit from an agreement that in the short and medium term harms it.
