Wind and solar generated 12% of electricity worldwide in 2022, the greenest in history

The generation without emissions goes up to 39% if the nuclear contribution is added

The combined production of wind and solar energy accounted for 12% of all electricity generated globally in 2022, according to the fourth annual Global Electricity Review report published by Ember. The percentage of clean generation goes up to 39% if the contribution of nuclear is also included, which would be a record. Despite this, coal still dominates generation, accounting for 36% of all electricity last year.
