In Europe, total net electricity amounted to 310.8 TWh in January 2023. Electricity production from fossil fuels declined by 17.0% year-on-year, with natural gas experiencing the largest decline, followed by coal. While nuclear electricity generation continued to fall, renewables increased by 4.9% year-on-year. Overall, so far this year, total net electricity decreased slightly by 6.6%.
