The Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a report approved on September 24, 2019 in session no. 51 of the IPCC (IPPC-51) in Monaco. The report was prepared from the review of more than 7,000 scientific articles by more than 100 experts from 36 different countries.
This Summary for Policymakers (SPM) compiles the main findings of the report and is structured in three parts: A: Observations, Changes and Impacts, B: Projected Changes and Risks, and C: Responses to Oceans and Cryosphere Changes.
The report confirms that there is a high risk for several geographies (remote arctic communities of rapid positive glacial-isostatic adjustment regions, megacities, urban atoll islands, large tropical agricultural deltas), a 1m rise in mean level is to be expected sea overall.
