Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through circular economy measures in the construction sector

The European Environment Agency published in July 2020 the report “Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through circular economy measures in the construction sector” with a new stepwise approach methodology to identify, prioritize and evaluate the relative benefits of changes that can increase circularity and reduce emissions. The key actions can offer emission reductions of up to 61% in the life cycles of buildings and the greatest potential is in the phases of design, production and demolition and waste management.
