Preview of the Report on the Spanish electricity system 2020

This preview presents provisional statistical data on the behavior of the Spanish electricity system during 2020. It indicates that in 2020 the demand for electricity in Spain decreased by 5.6% compared to 2019 due to the effects of the pandemic. Regarding generation, the historical record of renewable production stands out, reaching 110,450 MWh, 44% of electricity generation in 2020 (37.5% in 2019). Wind generation stands out, representing more than a fifth (21.9%) of the national generation structure and photovoltaic solar with 6.1%, both technologies registering their historical maximums.
