Reporting and verification of methane emissions measurements from the oil and gas sector and their implications for LNG trading.

This paper provides an overview of progress in measuring, reporting and verifying methane emissions, with a particular focus on the LNG sector, and discusses how this sector could be affected by the regulation to be introduced in the European Union and the United States. While LNG accounts for a small set of fossil fuel emissions, the significant expansion of its global trade has earned it considerable attention.
