Economic arguments for nature

This World Bank Group report shows that a collapse in select nature-provided services such as wild pollination, food supply from marine fisheries, and timber from native forests, could result in a significant decline in global GDP. The relative impacts are more pronounced in low- and lower-middle-income countries, where declines in 2030 GDP may be more than 10 percent. This analysis highlights the economic and environmental benefits to be gained by aligning global, regional and national policies that address biodiversity loss and climate change mitigation and adaptation and enhancement of local livelihoods; smart nature policies.
