COP28 was a watershed moment for the energy transition. The historic decision to move away from fossil fuels, triple renewable energy and double energy efficiency by 2030 provides the only means available to align with a 1.5°C trajectory, which IRENA has long advocated in its reports, and while it represents an important step forward, the world requires an analysis of our progress.
