Turning hydrogen demand into reality: which sectors will emerge first?

Current global hydrogen production methods generated more than 900 Mt of CO₂ emissions in 2022, more than maritime emissions of 706 Mt. Hydrogen demand could double by 2040, with most of the additional demand coming from industrial sectors and acting as a baseload, while the rest would come from new industrial uses and a small proportion of the total transport sectors.
