Amendments adopted by the European Parliament on the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).

MEPs agreed to advocate for CBAM to cover emissions from the hydrogen, polymer and organic chemicals industries, in addition to_CO2 emitted by the iron and steel sectors, refineries, cement, basic organic chemicals and fertilizers. Emission permits in these sectors will disappear from the emissions trading market, the so-called ETS system, which taxes EU industries between 2027 and 2032, to be consistent with CBAM.
