The transport sector can still reduce its_CO2 emissions by approximately 80% in the next 25 years

An ambitious transition to sustainable transport could be cheaper in terms of investment in basic transport infrastructure than business as usual, if action is taken now.

If measures to decarbonise transport are intensified and accelerated, the transport sector can still reduce its CO₂ emissions by around 80% over the next 25 years (compared to 2019), according to the OECD’s International Transport Forum (ITF) Transport Outlook 2023, presented on 24 May at the World Summit of Transport Ministers in Leipzig, Germany.
