The tourism sector is especially vulnerable to climate change, warns Plastic Free

The Balearic Islands were a pioneer at the legislative level thanks to the Law on waste and contaminated soils

The tourism sector “is especially vulnerable to climate change and, in turn, contributes to generating it”, so an immediate transformation towards a circular system is essential, says the coordinator of the alliance ‘Plastic Free Ibiza and Formentera’, Ayelén Alonso.

“Droughts, increasingly frequent heat waves, floods… The list is long given the consequences of climate change. One of the ways to mitigate – not stop – these consequences is to stop using materials that need fossil fuels for their production. And plastic is one of them,” he says.
