The planet will warm by 1.5 degrees by 2030 if CO₂ emissions are not reduced

“The window to keep warming to safe levels is rapidly closing,” according to a study

The world will warm 1.5 degrees warmer than pre-industrial by 2030 if carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions into the atmosphere are not reduced and 2022 levels are maintained.

That’s the conclusion of a study led by researchers at Imperial College London and published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change. This is the most up-to-date and comprehensive analysis of the global carbon budget, i.e. an estimate of the amount of CO₂ emissions that can be expelled by keeping global warming below certain temperature limits.
