The new energy saving auctions to strengthen the CAE system go to public hearing

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco) has initiated the public hearing of a regulatory project to incorporate energy saving auctions as a complementary mechanism to the Energy Savings Certificate System (CAE). The measure seeks to direct investment towards energy efficiency actions with long returns, specific technologies or priorities linked to energy and social policy. Miteco proposes two types of auctions that allow investment to be channelled to energy efficiency actions with long return periods, to specific technologies or according to energy and social policy. The initiative is articulated through the ‘Draft royal decree amending Royal Decree 36/2023, of 24 January, establishing a system of Energy Savings Certificates’.
